4k. KineMINI 4k will capture and record in 4K Uncompressed CinemaDNG and 4K Compressed CinemaDNG in-camera without needing an external recorder. The New 4K OLPF has been re-designed and optimized for 4K capturing. The new filter’s effects can be noticed even when capturing and recording with the 2K in-camera setting. 4K RAW capturing and recording leaves ample room for reframing, trimming, and CG. Many filmmakers have found that it is easier to edit footage in larger a resolution such as 4K then to convert it to a lower one such as 2K, by doing so the overall quality of the final product is higher. KineMINI 4K is compact and powerful while supporting 3k Wide@60fps.
HiSpeed100FPS SLOW-MO KineMINI 4K has the power to capture 96fps@1080p and 92fps@2K, at S35mm framing size, and can capture up to 120fps@1080p 2.39:1 flat, without cropping or limiting recording time. Even without buying the HiSpeed option, KineMINI 4k will capture slow and quick motion (overcrank and undercrank):100fps@720 when in S35 framing and up to 48fps@2K and 50fps@10080p when in S16 crop framing mode. When undercranked/quick-mo, the lowest fps is down to 6fps with current firmware. It is possible to set the sensor fps anywhere between the lowest fps and the highest fps, with an accuracy of 0.001fps.
3K 4:3 Anamorphic.With the ability to record in 3k 4:3 anamorphic, without requiring an external lens, the KineMINI 4K touches new ground in compact professional recording. The camera can shoot in the anamorphic setting at 2880×2160@30fps obtaining CinemaScope frames at 8:3(2.66:1). In post processing the final project can be enlarged to 5760×2160 (6K) CinemaScop!
KineRAW codec.We devoted time and effort into developing the KinewRaw (.krw) codec so that users can have access to cinema-level quality editing. The compression rate of 2:1~3:1, utilizes a lossless compression algorithm, to keep all of the data the sensor captured, there is no color sampling or loss. Our 240GB KineMAG SSD can record up to 45 minutes of 4K RAW clips at a data rate close to ProRes422HQ. Using KineStation, KineRAW can easily be transcoded into Cineform.mov and CinemaDNG. Images can have resolutions of 4K, 5K or 6K in HiSpeed recording, all the while saving precious SSD space.
Built-in Cineform RAW. KineMINI 4K can record at 2K CineForm RAW in real time. CineForm RAW uses high quality wavelet compression so that captures are visually lossless. On top of getting awesome quality, Cineform RAW increases your Workflows effectiveness. Famous films such as Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire or 127 days used CineForm RAW compression during production. The CineForm codec is cross-platform: running smoothly and efficiently on both MAC and Windows. Commercial editing and grading tools like Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Speedgrade, Resolve or Scratch support Cineform.
KineStation + KineCamera = Kine Hybrid System (KHS) We wanted our hybrid system to provide hassle free capturing and post processing. Kine cameras work as frontend capturing tools, filming in RAW for maximum quality, and KineStation providing a bridge between the camera and editing software. KineStation can KineRAW(.krw) and/or CinemaDNG into Cineform RAW/RGB444, ProRes codecs to match your favorite workflow. The KineStation will integrate more codecs like DPX, H264, H265, and debayer options for different controls from RAW into RGB domain, LUT options for quick output.
35mm.The Super35mm size CMOS sensor provides outstanding low light performance for HD use as well as for making DCP for projection in modern digital movie theaters where signal to noise ratio under difficult lighting conditions is crucial. KineMINI 4K performs well when used to film feature films and commercials and can produce clear shots in ample lighting as well in low lighting conditions. This is made possible because of the camera’s wide exposure latitude and high ISO range from 80 to 20480, this gives the camera the ability to make films look silky fine or gritty.
SDI KineMINI 4K outputs monitoring signal as 1080p/720p through One SDI and Two HD digital ports, so that you can use compatible third-party EVF like Cineroid EVF/Alphatron EVF, small field monitor like small HD monitors and broadcast monitors with SDI input like the Zunzheng monitor. For focusing, the camera’s zoom function can be Full/100%/200%, and even 800%. The in-camera waveform monitor and zebra can monitor the RAW signal or “look” LUT so that it helps you in improving exposure and avoiding over-exposure.
NEW LOCK-TYPE EF MOUNT. Starting January 2014, KineMINI 4k employs an entirely new lock-type EF mount. Its fixture mechanism is similar to the Cine PL mount, utilizing ring rotation instead of lens rotation to ensure that all EF lenses are firmly locked so that they make good contact with the pogo-pin contact found inside EF mounts. Compared to the more traditional lock spring based mechanism, the new EF mount gains better stability, fitting seamlessly into professional gear, such as follow-focus.
FLEXIBLE MOUNT OPTIONS. KineMINI 4K offers two versatile mounting systems: the EF mount and KineMOUNT. The native EF mount weighs less than the KineMOUNT version, however the KineMOUNT version (Interchangeable Lens Mount system) is more effective for fast changing mounts such as: PL mount, EF mounts with electronic contacts to tuning aperture, PL mount and Nikon F mount. KineMOUNT’s FFD is very short, and was used in KineRAW-S35 too.
SPORTS MODE. KineMINI 4K features sport mode which greatly reduces rolling effects, making your film look as if you used a global shutter. Sports mode is ideal for shooting while holding the device on the shoulder or in your hands, shooting documentaries or sports events. Its state-of-art CMOS sensor ensures image clarity in any filming situation. Even if the sensor is of the rolling type, it will deliver global shutter results. Footage will be turned into Cineform RGB444 .mov after KineStation transcoding. Sport Mode works on 2K and 1080p.
CINEMADNGis frame-based, just like Film. CinemaDNG™ offers maximum image quality having the capability to archive shots as “Digital Negative” keeping your original footage intact. Once you have processed the footage, your shots can be archived in an “open file format” , ensuring your files’ safety and support. CinemaDNG is Adobe’s proprietary format for saving motion picture digital negatives; the digital equivalent of motion picture color negative film (not necessarily the equal in all respects as that depends on the sensor used and how the recorded data is processed, just as the results of movie film depend on how it is processed).
KINEMINI = RAW + LOOK.To match the “look” used for monitoring when shooting, the KineMINI 4K makes a 3D-LUT based on what it records in 12bits RAW image data. KineMINI 4K can always re-process any shot using a different grade simply by changing the 3D-LUT used for processing. Loading the 3D-LUT made by the camera for color matching, such as when using in camera ‘looks’ KineLOG/KineColor/Kine709, you can quickly integrate footage from the KineMINI 4K with your existing Cineon film log, HDTV or VFX workflows.
S16mmIn S16mm mode the camera uses the center of the 4K S35mm sensor, so that it matches S16mm frame size. In this mode images reduce their size from 4k S35mm to 2k. This mode allows you to use the S16mm PL cine lens, even the broadcast B4 mount lens, to shoot in 2K RAW image, with less rolling effect, and overcrank to 60fps@2K RAW.
LIGHT-WEIGHT AND COMPACTThe KineMINI 4k is only a third of size of the KineRAW-S35, and weighs only half as much as its big brother the KineMAX 6K. Its handgrip and battery are made in such a way as to offer maximum comfort while doing sophisticated cinema captures or outside in harsh weather. You can be sure that the KineMINI 4K won’t fall out of your hands. Because of the camera’s decreased weight and increased compactness it consumes less power and energy which makes it a good choice for independent filmmakers. The camera’s body is available in black and titanium grey.
